Indoor Air Pollutants are More than a Minor Nuisance, It's a fact: the trapped air we breathe in our homes can be loaded with dust, pollen, spores, and other pollutant particles. In many cases, it's worse than the air outside. Especially if you are one of the more than 40 million allergy sufferers in North America. Now, add the fact that we spend 90% of our time inside and indoor air quality becomes a serious, if not the most serious of concerns.
Dirt, dust, pollen, spores, mold, and other circulated pollutants can be an irritating and costly problem, and removing them from your environment is just as important as heating and cooling your home. Removal of these irritants goes hand in hand with cooling, heating, and drying the air in your home. In a home "leaky" that uses just a simple 1" filter for example, the air in your home could easily be more polluted than the air outside. To find out what "leaky" means read the section labeled "WHOLE HOME COMFORT CHECKUP" on this page to the right.
Filtration is only one part of the solution however. Let's not put the cart in front of the horse so to speak. By focusing only on filtration we have missed the issue entirely! Simply adding high end filtration will NEVER fix the dust issue in your home. It may add some additional help but the problem is still not being address. For example, lets say your car radiator has a large leak in it. Would you carry 4 or 5 gallons of water with you at all times so you could pull over and keep refilling the radiator when it gets low? Most people would have the radiator replaced or have the leak fixed. With this logic, wouldn't you want to stop the dust from entering the home in the first place? Of course, high end filtration is a great addition to your system and should be considered. However, we here at Allstate Air and Heat want to SOLVE the dust problem for you, not just treat the symptom!
Over 40 million people in North America alone, suffer from allergies. Pollen. It's outside. It's inside. You even carry it in on your clothes. It can make you miserable. Over 28 million Americans nationwide suffer from hay fever and allergies. And in today's homes pollen is even more difficult to remove. Dust mites. The dust mite thrives in houses feeding on furniture stuffing, groceries, wallpaper paste and other such delicacies. It is seen here foraging among skin scales, cat fur and soil particles.
No matter how efficient your filtration system is, there will be some percentage of dust and other foreign materials that your filtration system just can't catch. We've always told our customers, "the absolute best filtration system available is a sheet of plywood installed where your filter would be,...ZERO air flow = ZERO dust and contaminants", however, this isn't really a practical solution is it. A partial solution is to install the best high quality HEPA filtration unit you can afford and periodically have your ducts sanitized to handle the remaining contaminants that the system just can't catch. High efficiency filtration systems will provide somewhat better comfort for your entire family while helping your system to operate efficiently, saving you money. However, as we stated before the filtration system is only part of the solution. You should have your home tested for infiltration leaks and duct leaks it order to gain an understanding of what your air conditioning system and heating system as well as your filtration system is trying to deal with. Without the information that the testing provides your basically shooting in the dark at the problems your facing in your home.
Unfortunately, most home heating and air cooling systems, even the most expensive and sophisticated ones, can not effectively remove harmful irritants without having a higher efficiency air cleaning filtration system and addressing any home envelope or duct leakage issues. HEPA filtration provides higher efficiency on indoor pollutants over standard type filter's, which can help everyone breathe a little easier.
A high efficiency HEPA filtration system will begin to help solve these problems by removing unwanted contaminants and improving the indoor filtered air you and your family breathe. You can feel secure knowing the filtration system is helping clean the air throughout your home: where you eat, sleep, work, or spend leisure time.
Because most standard disposable type filters trap less than 10% of atmospheric pollutants, most irritants remain on the surfaces in your home.
But with our HEPA filtration system, your heating and air cooling equipment becomes a virtual air cleaning system. Your home will have less dirt and dust particles in the air, and this means less cleaning of carpets and draperies, your walls will stay cleaner and require less painting and papering, and upholstered furniture will last longer, too. The result is a cleaner, safer, indoor environment.
The added benefit is financial savings resulting from a
longer lasting heating and air cooling system, cleaner duct system, and less
damage to your home and furnishings.

In all the years we have been in the HVACR or HVAC industry, we have never seen a more
valid, truthful, professional, valuable approach than with the Comfort Institute approach
at REALLY solving the problems our customers are having with comfort in their own homes.
Every year many different companies
contact us with products and "systems" that they say will provide results to
all of our customer's dust, mold, mildew, allergy issues. Unfortunately, when we take a closer look at what
they offer we see that it's mostly "smoke and mirror". These companies
will, ever so conveniently, skate over the areas that would shoot holes in their product or "system". Until
now, through all these years this is what we've come up against in finding REAL
opportunities to provide additional advanced services to our customers,......until now!

healthy, clean, comfortable and affordable living environment. Here's what the professionals at Comfort Institute
have to say,
"Unlike over 98% of the contractors in the Comfort and Indoor Air Quality industry, CI Member contractors
have the ability to look at the whole building as an interactive system. They have the advanced training
and test instruments needed to perform diagnostic testing on mechanical equipment, duct systems and the
thermal envelope. This unique Performance Testing approach ensures that the true causes of whatever unique
problems you may be suffering from will be properly identified.

Instead of selling band-aids for symptoms, CI member contractors then propose permanent solutions for problems.
They have the ability to provide a much wider range of solutions than single-focus companies, and they also
network with other reputable service providers to help you implement solutions outside their core area of expertise.
HVAC contractors supported by Comfort Institute “go beyond the box” to diagnose and solve, IAQ and comfort problems.
They have invested in the training and diagnostic instruments needed, have become air distribution system and
thermal envelope specialists, and understand that “The House Is An Interactive System”".
