When Is It Time To Replace?

You obviously want the most efficient cooling and heating system you can have in order to save you money on both your utility bills and frequent repairs. If you are seeing an increase in your utility bills and you have had to have your unit serviced more than a few times in the past year, it's probably time to consider replacing your cooling and heating unit.

If Your Unit Is Older Than Ten Years

A good rule of thumb is that if your heat pump or A/C unit is ten years old or older, it is probably time to consider replacing it. If you live beach side the rule is more like six years old or older. There are several good reasons for this. First, the technology in the new units is far superior to what was available ten years ago and the newer units are much more efficient than units manufactured ten years ago. Second, it will be an investment up-front, but will save you money every month that will go a long way toward paying for the unit itself.
